Design and Implementation of a Network Monitoring and Management Tool
Computer Science — 2024, Undergraduate
This study designed and implemented a Network Monitoring and Management Tool to assist network administrators in tracking the availability, performance, and security of networked devices. Manual monitoring is tedious, error-prone, and incapable of providing real-time visibility. The system polls devices, records uptime and response times, and provides dashboards and alerts for anomalies. Built with Python Django and a SQLite database, the tool was evaluated in a campus network environment. The findings revealed improved fault detection, faster response to outages, and better utilisation of network resources. The study recommends adoption of the tool to support proactive network management.
