Design and Implementation of an Online Examination Management System

This study designed and implemented an Online Examination Management System to modernise the conduct of examinations in educational institutions. The traditional paper-based approach is time-consuming, resource-intensive, and susceptible to errors and malpractices. The system enables lecturers to set and schedule objective and subjective questions, and students to take timed tests online with automatic marking and results. Built with PHP and MySQL, the system was tested for reliability, security, and usability with both students and lecturers. The findings revealed reduced examination administration overhead and faster release of results. The study recommends deployment of the system together with robust security and anti-fraud measures.
