Development of an E-Learning Management System for Nigerian Universities
Computer Science — 2024, Undergraduate
This study developed and evaluated a web-based E-Learning Management System (LMS) for Nigerian universities, where the manual distribution of course materials and the recording of assessments have long been inefficient. The system enables lecturers to upload course materials and assignments, and students to view content, submit work, and access grades securely. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. The findings showed that the system significantly reduced the time taken to distribute materials and retrieve results, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends full deployment, periodic maintenance, and ongoing user training to maximise the benefits of the platform.
