Development of an Inventory Management System for Retail Businesses
Computer Science — 2024, Undergraduate
This study developed an Inventory Management System to automate the tracking of stock levels, sales, and reordering in retail businesses. Manual inventory management often results in stockouts, overstocking, and inaccurate records. The system allows users to record product purchases and sales, monitor stock levels, and generate alerts and reports for low inventory. Built with Python Django and SQLite, the system was evaluated for functionality and usability with retail staff. The findings revealed improved stock accuracy, reduced losses from overstocking, and better-informed purchasing decisions. The study recommends deployment of the system to enhance the efficiency of inventory operations in retail businesses.
