Development of an Online Hotel Booking and Reservation System

This study developed an Online Hotel Booking and Reservation System to address the inefficiencies of manual room reservation in Nigerian hotels. The manual system is characterised by overbooking, booking errors, and poor guest record management. The system allows guests to browse available rooms, make and manage reservations, and view booking confirmations, while hotel staff manage room availability and check-ins. Built with PHP and MySQL, the system was evaluated for functionality and usability. The findings showed a reduction in double bookings and an improvement in the speed and accuracy of the reservation process. The study recommends deployment of the system to enhance the operational efficiency of hotels.
