Assessment of Geriatric Care Practices on the Quality of Life of Older Adults in Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study assessed the effect of geriatric care practices on the quality of life of older adults in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with elderly patients and their caregivers using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that attentive nursing care, assistance with daily activities, and chronic disease management significantly improved the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of older adults, while neglect and insufficient support reduced quality of life. The study observed limited geriatric training among nurses. It recommends geriatric-focused training and age-friendly care services.
