Development of an Online Student Registration and Records System for Tertiary Institutions

This study developed an Online Student Registration and Records System to replace the manual, paper-based registration process common in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The system enables students to register for courses online, view their profiles, and check their enrolment status, while administrative staff manage student records and course allocations. Adopting a structured systems development methodology, the system was built with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. Testing demonstrated reduced registration time, elimination of duplicate records, and improved accuracy of student data. The findings support the deployment of the system to streamline registration and enhance the reliability of student records management.
