Effect of Antenatal Care Utilisation on Pregnancy Outcomes in Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the effect of antenatal care utilisation on pregnancy outcomes in Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to women attending antenatal clinics and records reviewed for delivery outcomes. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that early and regular antenatal visits significantly reduced complications, low birth weight, and adverse outcomes, while late and infrequent attendance was associated with poorer results. The study observed barriers of cost, distance, and service quality. It recommends improved access, health education, and quality antenatal services.
