Effect of Community Health Education on Disease Prevention in Rural Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the effect of community health education on disease prevention in rural Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to community members exposed to health education programmes. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that health education increased awareness and adoption of preventive practices such as sanitation, mosquito net use, and hygiene, thereby reducing communicable disease incidence. The study observed inconsistent programme delivery and limited follow-up. It recommends sustained community education, use of local languages, and community health worker involvement.
