Effect of Company Law Reform on Corporate Governance Compliance in Nigeria

This study examined the effect of company law reform on corporate governance compliance in Nigeria. Statutes, regulatory data, and questionnaire responses from company secretaries and compliance officers were analysed. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that statutory reforms improved directors' duties, disclosure obligations, and accountability requirements, encouraging better governance compliance, while enforcement capacity and small company awareness limited full compliance. The study observed improved corporate reporting. It recommends stronger regulator capacity and targeted compliance support.
