Effect of Education Budget Allocation on Learning Outcomes in Public Schools

Educational Management2025, Undergraduate

This study examined the effect of education budget allocation on learning outcomes in public schools in Nigeria. Budget and performance data were analysed together with questionnaire responses from school heads and teachers. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that the level and composition of budget allocations, particularly for instructional materials, teacher support, and infrastructure, significantly influenced student achievement, while recurrent-dominated budgets with low capital content limited improvements. The study observed poor correlation between budget and classroom outcomes. It recommends results-oriented budgeting and tracking of expenditure to learning outcomes.
