Effect of Electronic Health Records on Documentation Accuracy in Nursing Practice
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the effect of electronic health records on documentation accuracy in nursing practice in Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was administered to nurses using electronic documentation systems. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that electronic records improved legibility, completeness, and timeliness of nursing documentation and reduced charting errors, while power failures, system downtime, and training gaps limited usage. The study observed resistance among some staff to digital transition. It recommends reliable systems, training, and supportive policies for electronic documentation.
