Effect of Foreign Policy on Nigeria's International Standing in Africa

This study examined the effect of Nigerian foreign policy on its international standing in Africa. Interviews with diplomats, academics, and foreign affairs analysts were complemented by review of policy documents. The findings revealed that peacekeeping, regional integration, and economic diplomacy significantly shaped Nigeria's standing, although inconsistent policy and fiscal constraints moderated influence. The study observed that leadership in regional organisations enhanced Nigeria's stature. It recommends a coherent, resource-backed, and consistent foreign policy anchored on national interests.
