Effect of Security Governance on Counterterrorism Outcomes in Nigeria

This study examined the effect of security governance on counterterrorism outcomes in Nigeria. Documentary analysis and interview responses from security officials, analysts, and civil society actors were adopted. The findings revealed that coordination, intelligence sharing, and civil-military relations significantly influenced counterterrorism effectiveness, while institutional rivalry, community mistrust, and resource constraints limited success. The study observed that comprehensive approaches yielded better results than force alone. It recommends enhanced inter-agency coordination, community engagement, and human rights-compliant security operations.
