Effect of Labour Law Reforms on the Protection of Workers' Rights in Nigeria

Law2025, Undergraduate

This study examined the effect of labour law reforms on the protection of workers' rights in Nigeria. Statutes, judicial decisions, and questionnaire responses from workers, employers, and labour officers were analysed. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that labour law reforms improved protections relating to contracts, termination, and working conditions, while enforcement gaps, informality, and limited awareness undermined compliance. The study observed that many workers remain outside legal protections. It recommends enhanced enforcement, dispute resolution improvements, and extension of protections to informal workers.
