Effect of Parental Involvement on Student Academic Performance in Nigeria

This study examined the effect of parental involvement on student academic performance in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with parents, teachers, and students using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that parental monitoring of homework, attendance at school events, and communication with teachers significantly improved student achievement and behaviour. The study found that involvement was limited by work demands and low awareness. It recommends structured parent-teacher engagement, open days, and communication channels between schools and families.
