Effect of Post-Operative Care Practices on Surgical Outcomes in Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the effect of post-operative care practices on surgical outcomes in Nigerian hospitals. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to nurses and clinical records reviewed for surgical patients. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that comprehensive wound care, early mobilisation, pain management, and monitoring significantly reduced complications such as surgical site infections and improved recovery. The study observed that staffing shortages and limited supplies compromised care quality. It recommends adequate staffing, standard care protocols, and continuous professional development.
