Effect of School Administrators' Leadership Styles on Teacher Motivation in Secondary Schools

This study examined the effect of school administrators' leadership styles on teacher motivation in secondary schools in Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to teachers and principals in selected schools. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that democratic and transformational leadership styles significantly enhanced teacher motivation, commitment, and morale, while autocratic styles reduced motivation. The study found that recognition and involvement in decision-making were important motivators. It recommends leadership development for school administrators and participatory management practices.
