Influence of Civil Society Organisations on Policy Advocacy in Nigeria

This study investigated the influence of civil society organisations on policy advocacy in Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to civil society leaders, advocates, and government officials. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that research, mobilisation, and direct advocacy by civil society significantly influenced policy and legislative outcomes in several sectors, while funding constraints, capacity gaps, and restricted operating space limited influence. The study observed effective campaigns on governance and social issues. It recommends strengthening civil society capacity, partnerships, and enabling environments.
