Influence of Decentralisation on Service Delivery at Sub-National Levels
Political Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the influence of decentralisation on service delivery at sub-national levels in Nigeria. A survey was conducted with state and local government officials and citizens using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that decentralisation improved proximity and responsiveness in some services, while weak capacity, funding gaps, and overlapping responsibilities limited service quality. The study observed variability across states and sectors. It recommends clarity of roles, capacity building, and results-based management at sub-national levels.
