Influence of Insolvency Law on Business Rescue in Nigeria

Law2025, Undergraduate

This study examined the influence of insolvency law on business rescue in Nigeria. Statutes, court records, and questionnaire responses from legal practitioners and insolvency professionals were analysed. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that rescue-oriented provisions offered mechanisms for rehabilitating viable businesses and preserving value, while procedural delays, creditor coordination problems, and limited professional practice constrained effective use. The study observed limited awareness of rescue options. It recommends strengthening institutional capacity, specialised insolvency practice, and promotion of rescue culture.
