Influence of Pain Management Protocols on Patient Recovery in Surgical Wards
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study investigated the influence of pain management protocols on patient recovery in surgical wards in Nigeria. Questionnaires were administered to nurses and patients using a structured tool and data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that structured pain assessment, timely analgesia, and non-pharmacological interventions significantly improved patient comfort, early activity, and overall recovery outcomes. The study observed inconsistent pain documentation and knowledge gaps among some staff. It recommends standardised pain protocols, staff training, and routine pain assessment.
