Influence of Primary Health Care Services on Rural Access to Health Care in Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study investigated the influence of primary health care services on rural access to health care in Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was administered to residents and primary health centre staff in rural communities. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that the availability of primary health services improved proximity, affordability, and utilisation of basic care, while shortages of personnel, drugs, and equipment limited the quality and scope of services. The study observed that referrals to higher levels were often delayed. It recommends strengthening of primary health centres, staffing, and supplies.
