Influence of Regional Integration on African Security Cooperation

Political Science2025, Undergraduate

This study investigated the influence of regional integration on African security cooperation. A descriptive survey was conducted with security officials, diplomats, and academics using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that regional organisations facilitated collective responses to peace and security challenges, including peacekeeping and mediation, while sovereignty concerns, funding gaps, and divergent interests limited deeper cooperation. The study observed that cooperation was often reactive. It recommends strengthened regional mechanisms, predictable funding, and shared threat assessments.
