Influence of Skilled Birth Attendance on Safe Delivery Outcomes in Nigeria
Nursing Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study investigated the influence of skilled birth attendance on safe delivery outcomes in Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was administered to women who delivered in health facilities and at home, complemented by records review. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that delivery attended by skilled health personnel significantly reduced birth complications, stillbirths, and maternal morbidity, while unsupervised home deliveries carried greater risk. The study found that cultural preferences and cost influenced place of delivery. It recommends promotion of facility delivery, skilled midwifery, and emergency obstetric care.
