Influence of Stakeholders on Policy Formulation in Nigeria
Political Science — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the influence of stakeholders on policy formulation in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with policy analysts, legislators, and interest group representatives using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that organised interests, expert inputs, and public opinion significantly shaped policy content, while policy capture by powerful interests and poor consultation limited inclusivity. The study observed that consultative processes were often symbolic. It recommends transparent stakeholder engagement, public participation mechanisms, and evidence-driven policy processes.
