Influence of Tort Liability on Corporate Risk Management in Nigeria

Law2025, Undergraduate

This study examined the influence of tort liability on corporate risk management in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with corporate legal officers and insurance managers using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that exposure to tort liability encouraged companies to adopt safety measures, product testing, and liability insurance, while weak enforcement and limited litigation reduced the deterrent influence. The study observed that insurance played a growing role. It recommends stronger enforcement, corporate compliance culture, and integrated risk management.
