This study assesses language of Instruction and Understanding of Biological Terms in urban secondary schools in Maiduguri. A descriptive survey design was employed and data were gathered from 471 parents in urban secondary schools in Maiduguri. Findings reveal that mother-tongue explanations aid mastery of biological terms The study recommends supervision of syllabus coverage and practical work by school heads
