Assessment of Corporate Governance Practices on the Performance of Quoted Firms in Nigeria

Business Administration2025, Undergraduate

This study assessed the effect of corporate governance practices on the performance of quoted firms in Nigeria. Data were gathered through an analysis of annual reports of selected listed companies together with questionnaire responses from board members and company secretaries. The findings revealed that board independence, audit committee effectiveness, and transparency of disclosures positively influenced firm profitability and accountability. The study, however, observed weak enforcement and limited board diversity in some firms. It recommends strict adherence to governance codes, enhanced board oversight, and greater protection of minority shareholders.
