Assessment of Digital Media Consumption Habits Among University Students in Nigeria
Mass Communication — 2025, Undergraduate
This study assessed digital media consumption habits among university students in Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted with questionnaires administered to undergraduates in selected universities. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test. The findings revealed that students spent substantial daily time on social media and video platforms, while traditional media use declined. Consumption patterns were influenced by entertainment, social interaction, and information needs, though concerns about distraction and exposure to unverified content were expressed. The study recommends media literacy education and the design of engaging educational digital content.
