Influence of Development Communication on Agricultural Information Dissemination in Rural Nigeria
Mass Communication — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the influence of development communication on agricultural information dissemination in rural Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted among farmers in selected rural communities using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The findings revealed that radio extension programmes, agricultural shows, and farmer training broadcasts significantly improved awareness and adoption of improved farming practices. However, irregular programming and low literacy limited the full impact of the messages. The study recommends participatory communication approaches, use of local dialects, and stronger collaboration between extension agencies and broadcast stations.
