Assessment of the Cassava Value Chain Efficiency in Nigeria

Agricultural Economics2025, Undergraduate

This study assessed the efficiency of the cassava value chain in Nigeria. Data were collected from producers, processors, and marketers along the chain using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and margin analysis. The findings revealed that fragmented production, high processing costs, and weak market linkages diminished efficiency and value capture along the chain, with significant losses at production and processing stages. The study found room for improved mechanisation and aggregation. It recommends investment in processing infrastructure, farmer-processor linkages, and quality standards.
