Determinants of Rural Household Income Diversification in Nigeria
Agricultural Economics — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the determinants of rural household income diversification in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with rural households using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that education, access to credit, infrastructure, and household size significantly influenced the degree of income diversification, with diversified households exhibiting more stable incomes. The study found that dependence on a single agricultural activity increased vulnerability. It recommends livelihood support, rural credit, and skills training to promote diversification.
