Development of a Random Sampling and Sample Size Calculator System
Statistics — 2025, Undergraduate
This study developed a web-based random sampling and sample size calculator system to support researchers in planning statistically sound surveys. The system computes sample sizes using population and margin-of-error inputs, applies correction factors, and generates random sample selections from uploaded population lists. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Python, Flask, NumPy, and SQLite. The findings showed that the system reduced sampling errors and saved time in survey planning, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends integrating the tool with data collection platforms for end-to-end survey workflows.
