Development of a Research Data Management and Repository System

This study developed a research data management and repository system that allows departments to store, catalogue, and retrieve datasets with metadata and version control. The system supports controlled access, search, and dataset citations. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and Docker. The findings showed that the system improved data organisation and retrieval while reducing data loss, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends integrating the repository with institutional research portals.
