Development of a Web-Based Sales Forecasting Application for Retailers
Statistics — 2025, Undergraduate
This study developed a web-based sales forecasting application that helps retailers project demand using historical sales data and seasonal patterns. The application applies moving averages and exponential smoothing and displays forecasts alongside confidence bands. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using JavaScript, Node.js, Express, and MySQL. The findings showed that the application improved stock planning and reduced stock-outs and overstocking for participating retailers, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends integrating the application with point-of-sale systems.
