Effect of Farm Record Keeping on the Profitability of Agricultural Enterprises

This study examined the effect of farm record keeping on the profitability of agricultural enterprises in Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with farmers using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that farmers who kept accurate records made better-informed decisions on input use, pricing, and resource allocation, leading to higher profitability and better access to credit. The study found that low literacy and limited training discouraged record keeping. It recommends record-keeping training, simplified templates, and financial literacy support.
