Effect of Production Efficiency on the Output of Smallholder Farmers in Nigeria
Agricultural Economics — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the effect of production efficiency on the output of smallholder farmers in Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with farmers in selected states using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and production function analysis. The findings revealed that efficient use of land, labour, and inputs significantly increased farm output, while inefficiencies in input use constrained yields. The study found that poor access to modern inputs and knowledge limited production efficiency. It recommends improved input supply, farmer training, and extension services to enhance efficiency.
