Effect of Venture Financing on the Survival and Growth of New Businesses in Nigeria

Business Administration2025, Undergraduate

This study investigated the effect of venture financing on the survival and growth of new businesses in Nigeria. A mixed-methods approach combining questionnaires and interviews with founders and investors was adopted. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that adequate venture financing significantly improved early-stage survival, product development, and scaling capacity, but that limited deal flow and stringent investor conditions constrained access. The study also found that non-financial support from investors enhanced managerial capability. It recommends expanding access to early-stage capital and strengthening the ecosystem of angel and venture investors.
