Impact of Employee Training and Development on the Performance of Commercial Bank Employees in Nigeria
Business Administration — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the impact of employee training and development on the performance of commercial bank employees in Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted, and questionnaires were administered to staff of selected commercial banks in Lagos. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that on-the-job training, off-the-job training, and career development programmes had a significant positive relationship with employee productivity and service quality. However, irregular training schedules and inadequate evaluation of training outcomes reduced the effectiveness of interventions. The study recommends a systematic training needs assessment, regular evaluation of training programmes, and alignment of training with organisational goals.
