Influence of Radio Broadcasting on Rural Development in Ogun State
Mass Communication — 2025, Undergraduate
This study examined the influence of radio broadcasting on rural development in Ogun State, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted and structured questionnaires were administered to rural dwellers across selected communities. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that agricultural extension messages, health education broadcasts, and community information programmes significantly improved awareness and adoption of recommended practices among listeners. However, low signal strength, language barriers, and irregular electricity limited effective listening. The study recommends improved transmission infrastructure, use of local languages, and participatory community radio programming.
