Assessment of Total Quality Management Practices on Operational Efficiency in the Manufacturing Sector
Business Administration — 2025, Undergraduate
This study assessed the effect of total quality management (TQM) practices on operational efficiency in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. A survey of production and quality managers in selected plants was conducted using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that top management commitment, continuous improvement, and statistical process control significantly improved product quality and reduced waste. However, irregular process audits and limited employee involvement weakened the full benefits of TQM. The study recommends entrenching a quality culture, empowering employees to identify defects, and instituting regular performance reviews.
