Development of a File Encryption and Secure Data Sharing System
Cyber Security — 2025, Undergraduate
This study developed a file encryption and secure data sharing system that allows users to encrypt documents before upload and control who may decrypt them. The system implements password-derived keys, secure session handling, and audit trails of access. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Python, Django, and the cryptography library. The findings showed that the system protected files at rest and in transit while simplifying secure sharing, and achieved a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends deployment in offices handling sensitive records.
