Development of a Vulnerability Scanning and Risk Assessment Tool
Cyber Security — 2025, Undergraduate
This study developed a vulnerability scanning and risk assessment tool that checks web endpoints for common misconfigurations, insecure headers, and weak TLS settings, then assigns risk scores. Reports prioritise findings for remediation. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Python, Flask, and SQLite. The findings showed that the tool accelerated assessments and produced actionable remediation lists, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends use in ethical hacking coursework and organisational audits.
