Development of a Web-Based Distributed Backup and File Synchronisation System
Information Technology — 2025, Undergraduate
This study developed a web-based distributed backup and file synchronisation system that replicates folders across configured nodes, tracks version history, and restores files on demand. The system reports backup health per node. Adopting a client-server architecture and a survey-based usability evaluation, the system was built using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. The findings showed that the system improved data protection and recovery readiness, while achieving a high System Usability Scale score. The study recommends deployment for departmental data safety.
